RealMap.NYC is a free web app for visualizing NYC Subway and PATH service in real time.
How to use
Features
- The Map tab shows the service that is available right now. It redraws itself to show service changes and planned work based on information provided by the MTA.
- The Alerts tab shows all of the current service alerts.
- On mobile devices, the Add to Home Screen button adds a shortcut to the app on your home screen that looks and feels like a standalone app.
Map interface
- Pan and zoom. Move the map by dragging your finger. To zoom in and out, pinch and spread your fingers or use the zoom controls in the lower left corner of the map view. Double tapping on a location also zooms in. The icon resets the map.
- Localization. Tapping the icon will zoom and center the map on the station that is nearest to you (geolocation services required).
- Legend. Tapping the icon will bring up a legend explaining the symbols in the map.
- Station information. Tap a station's service mark to see real-time train departure times and elevator/escalator status.

Privacy
RealMap.NYC does not ask you to create an account and does not collect your name or other personal details.
If you tap the locate control, your device may share your location with the app so it can find the nearest station. That location stays on your device for this purpose. It is not stored by RealMap.NYC and is not sent to Google Analytics.
We use Google Analytics to learn which parts of the app people use (for example, which tabs and features are opened). Analytics may include an approximate region based on IP address, as is common on many websites. It does not include your exact GPS coordinates.
